Wow could it have really happened!? Some of these eggs really did hatch after going threw a fire! As alot of you know I suffered a fire that totally destroyed my entire reptile room and claimed the lives of all of my geckos. I had a big scientific incubator that I had eggs in at the time. After the fire happened I thought there was no way the eggs could still be good, but out of curiousity I pulled them out of the incubator and kept them anyway.

What do ya know... A clutch actually hatched today!!!!

After seeing the 2 little hatchlings, a question arose....

The parents were Rainwater X Hypo Tang Enigma.... Both hatchlings look to be Macks? Im trying to decide if someone miss documented one of the parents and got it confused, or if the extreme changes in temperature could have caused this.... One hatching is an Enigma, the other is not.

This big old prehistoric incubator saved the eggs! Good thing the outside was all metal so it couldnt catch fire. As you can see the temperature gages didnt stand a chance against the fire though :-p

Good to hear. Did you have any more eggs in the incubator? I don't think you should give up on it if it's still working. Sounds like someone labeled a deli cup wrong. May be wrong but I don't think heat would change anything other then sex. Looking forward to seeing pics in the future. Good luck with them.

There are a few eggs left. I think I had around 30 in the incubator. Over half of them have gone bad, but i have hope for the few that didnt go bad yet after seeing these 2 hatch.

I know that higher incubation temperatures can help yeild more brightly colored animals, which is why some people incubate their females at female temp for the first 2-3 weeks, and then move them into the male incubator. I wasnt sure if an extreme temperature like a fire could cause these or not, but I have a feeling you are right. Being that the only way you can really tell that some macks really are macks are at hatchings, it would be pretty easy to mix up or forget if you didnt document the hatchlings well.

BTW its great to hear from you again! The forum is starting to get lively! How are things going for you? Feel free to start a new thread and tell us about how your season has been going! :-)

That's fantastic, and quite incredible as well. I hope you see some more hatch out!
